a seminary student’s babbling…

Opossum 1, Alan 0

I didn’t think I would have the opportunity so quickly, but last night, despite extremely nasty weather, the opossum came back. Courtney noticed his nasty little tail sticking out of the cat’s house, which meant he was eating the cat’s food. So I went out a different door, snuck around, got the cat out of the way, then scared the monster out of the cat house. He looked at me, hissed and ran off. As soon as he got off the porch, I took a shot at him (Courtney told me not to shoot him on the porch or in the cat’s house). The gun didn’t fire the first round, and he had time to get into the dark where I couldn’t see him. I went on and fired about 5 shots in that direction, but to no avail.

So here we are–opossum 1, Alan 0, cat still scared.

  5. Yeah, I don’t want to completely destroy him. I want to salvage him so I can hang him up on the edge of the yard as an example for all future problem opossums to see: “This is what you get when you mess with this house.” You know?
